Chain link fence installation — commercial, agricultural, and estate

Durable perimeter fencing for commercial operations and estate security — installed professionally.

Chain link is a proven, economical, and low-maintenance fencing choice for commercial equestrian operations, agricultural facilities, fairgrounds, boarding facilities, and estate security perimeters. System Fence installs agricultural and commercial-grade chain link with correct post sizing, proper tensioning, and all gates integrated as part of the system.

Why Chain Link

Proven performance. Low maintenance. Commercial capacity.

Economical for large-area perimeter fencing

Chain link delivers significant perimeter coverage at a higher cost per linear foot than board, PVC, or Flex Fence, but a higher height typically 6’. For large commercial operations where perimeter security and containment are the priority, chain link is typically an effective solution.

Commercial and agricultural grade

We install commercial and agricultural-grade galvanized chain link — not residential-grade box-store product. Heavier gauge wire, proper terminal and line post sizing, and professional tensioning produce a fence that holds up to the demands of working commercial operations for decades.

Vinyl-coated options for estate applications

For estate properties or locations where appearance matters, vinyl-coated chain link — typically in black or dark green — provides a more refined appearance while retaining all the structural advantages of galvanized chain link.  Good for pool or larger backyard areas.

Gates integrated as part of the system

Chain link gates — single walk gates, double drive gates, and rolling gates — are supplied and installed as part of the fence system. We size and hang gates to match the fence gauge and height.

Best Applications

Where chain link is the right fencing choice.

Fairgrounds and exhibition facilities

Fairgrounds require extensive perimeter fencing, livestock containment within the grounds, and gates at multiple access points. Chain link handles all of these applications at commercial scale. We have experience with large agricultural exhibition facility installations across Ontario.

Equestrian centres and boarding facilities

Commercial boarding facilities need secure perimeter fencing, service access gates, and separation between facility areas. Chain link provides this at a cost that makes sense for commercial operations.

Dog kennels and runs

Chain link in appropriate heights and gauges — with concrete footings or buried aprons to prevent digging — is the standard for professional dog kennel runs and outdoor containment areas.

Estate security perimeters

For rural estate properties where security is a consideration, black vinyl-coated chain link provides an attractive and effective perimeter option, particularly when combined with automated driveway gate systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Chain link installation — common questions.

1. What gauge chain link do you install?

We install commercial and agricultural-grade chain link in heavier gauges than typical residential product. The gauge is selected based on application — dog kennels, equestrian facilities, and security perimeters each have different requirements. Your System Fence specialist will recommend the correct gauge during the quoting process.

2. Can chain link be used for horse fencing?

Chain link is not typically recommended as a primary horse paddock fence — horses can catch hooves in the diamond pattern under certain conditions. However, chain link is appropriate for horse facility perimeter security where horses are not running the fence line, and for dog and other livestock containment within an equestrian facility.

3. What is the difference between galvanized and vinyl-coated chain link?

Galvanized chain link has a zinc coating applied during or after manufacture that provides excellent rust resistance. Vinyl-coated chain link has an additional polymer layer — typically black or green — bonded over the galvanized wire. Vinyl-coated is more expensive and provides a more refined appearance suitable for estate applications.

4. Do you install gates as part of the chain link installation?

Yes. Chain link gates — single walk gates, double drive gates, and rolling slide gates for wide openings — are supplied and installed as part of the fence system. We size all gates to match the fence height and gauge.
