Flex Fence installation — Ontario’s most experienced installer since 1987
The stronger, safer, lower-maintenance horse fence — installed properly.
Flex Fence is the gold standard for horse containment in Ontario — high-tensile galvanized wire bonded inside a durable polymer rail that flexes on impact rather than splintering, stays highly visible to horses, and requires virtually no maintenance year after year. System Equine has been installing Flex Fence since 1987. Our original installations are still standing with horses grazing within them.
Why choose Flex Fence
Built specifically for horses. No other fence material comes close.
Wood splinters. Wire entangles. PVC is rigid and brittle under severe impact. Flex Fence does none of these things — and that is exactly why it has been the preferred fencing for serious horse properties in Ontario for nearly four decades.
When a horse hits Flex Fence at full speed, the rail flexes and absorbs the impact, then returns to its original shape. No splintering, no sharp edges, no injury risk. In a severe impact the rail may break cleanly and can be repaired on the spot with a splice buckle.
Designed with safety in mind, wide polymer rail fencing offers excellent visibility and creates a clearly defined boundary that horses can easily recognize and respect. The wider rail profile stands out more prominently throughout paddocks, pastures, and riding areas, helping distinguish fence lines in a variety of lighting and weather conditions. Strong fence visibility is an important part of any equine fencing system, especially in high traffic areas where clear boundaries are essential.
No painting, staining, treating, or replacing rotted boards. The UV-stabilized polymer resists fading, cracking, and weathering through Ontario’s full range of seasonal conditions. A 5.25″ Plus rail carries a Lifetime Limited Warranty.
System Equine started installing Flex Fence in 1987. Most of those original installations are still fully functional today — nearly 40 years of real-world Ontario performance.
Any Flex Fence rail can be paired with Shockline electric coated wire for a consistent look with added behaviour management. Top rail electrification stops horses from leaning over. Bottom rail stops them from reaching under.

How it works
From first call to finished fence.
Call or email. We talk through your project, pull up our online planning tools, and draw and measure your property on screen. We give you a clear rough idea of cost — often before anyone visits your property.
For larger or more complex projects we come to site, walk the fence lines, discuss rail options and configurations for each zone, and assess terrain and ground conditions.
You receive an itemized written quote with layout drawings — materials, labour, and scope clearly separated. No surprises.
We schedule your crew and source all Flex Fence product, posts, hardware, and tensioners from System Equine’s own inventory. We allow 1–2 weeks of weather flexibility.
Posts go in plumb and at consistent depth using professional post-pounding equipment. Brackets, rails, and tensioners are installed to manufacturer specification so your warranty remains fully intact.
We walk the completed fence with you. Any adjustments are made on the spot. You receive care guidance and know exactly what to watch in the first season.
“Back in 1987 we started installing fences using the Centaur Flexible Fencing System. We chose it for its outstanding durability — and most of our original installations are still fully functional with horses grazing happily within them. — System Equine, Rockwood & Drumbo, Ontario”
Flex Fence installation — common questions
System Equine has been installing Flex Fence since 1987 — nearly 40 years. We began with the original Centaur Flexible Fencing System and have installed thousands of installations across Southern and Central Ontario since. Most of our original 1987 installations are still in service today.
Both rails use the same high-tensile galvanized wire core and are available in the same colours. The 5.25″ Plus is wider — more visible to horses — and carries a Lifetime Limited Warranty compared to the 30-Year Limited Warranty on the 4.25″ rail. For show properties, estate paddocks, and premium installations, the 5.25″ Plus is the preferred choice.
Yes. Any Flex Fence rail can be paired with Shockline electric coated wire, which matches the appearance of Flex Fence for a visually consistent fence line. A hot top rail stops horses from leaning over shared fence lines. A hot bottom rail stops horses from reaching underneath. We handle energizer selection and grounding as part of the installation.
We pound posts using professional post-pounding equipment. Pounding compacts the surrounding soil for a tighter, more stable post with better resistance to Ontario’s frost heaving cycles than augered posts. It is also faster, which reduces your total installation time and cost.
The rail flexes on impact and returns to its original shape when the load is removed. For very severe impacts, the rail may break cleanly at a bracket point. A broken rail can be repaired on the spot using a splice buckle — no need to replace the entire fence line.
Flex Fence is available in white, black, and brown. White is the most common and most visible to horses. Black is popular for a more traditional or low-visibility aesthetic. Brown suits natural or rustic property styles. Confirm current availability with your System Equine sales specialist at time of quoting.
Yes. All Flex Fence rails, posts, brackets, tensioners, end buckles, and hardware are supplied from System Equine’s own inventory. There are no third-party suppliers involved, which means complete product consistency and all manufacturer warranties remain fully intact.
